Description

1. Where to download Beamman's Water Effect for MikuMikuDance:

English-translated version:

Water v5 5 32 64

or

anonfiles.com/h1e456teuc/Water…

If you cannot download the file (or any other file from deviantart sta.sh):
When you are logged into deviantart, open your main sta.sh page (Just type sta.sh into your browser address bar and press enter). Then load or reload the sta.sh page of the file that you want to download.

Original version of Beamman water effect is linked here:
www43.atwiki.jp/beamman/pages/…
Water_v5.0

Original version download here:
ux.getuploader.com/BeamMan2/do…

(Click on the button in the center of the page. You don't need to enable javascript.)

2. If you have downloaded the orginal untranslated version, after unzipping the downloaded file, rename files and folders. The names of all .x and .fx files must be ASCII characters only. The containing folder and all folders above it in the file path must be named with ASCII characters only. For some reason MME effects does not seem to tolerate Japanese or other non-ASCII characters in the names of files and folders (strangely). After renaming files, be sure that each .x file has the same name as its companion .fx file. (For example, If the .x file is named Water2_hi.x, then its companion .fx file should be named Water2_hi.fx)

3. If the imported .x object is all white, you should have a black background to see it clearly. If the imported .x object is all black, then you should have a white background to see it clearly.
In MMD, click background, black background, to change the background color.

4. Resize the .x file, then click 'register". In each sub-folder of Water_v5_4_32_64, there is a file, whose file name tells you the recommended amount by which you should resize the .x file. You will also want to raise the level of the .x object, so that your dancer will be dancing at least ankle deep in the water (increase the translate Y value of the .x object, then click "register").

5. OMG,the water is all black! What do I do now?
Answer: The water needs something to reflect the color of. Add a sky dome into the scene and that gets rid of the "all black" problem. :-) (You may as well copy your favorite sky dome into the MME water effect folder to save yourself time.)

6. Another helpful deviantart page about troubleshooting MME effects:
chestnutscoop.deviantart.com/j…

(For this tutorial, I used Windows 7, MikuMikuDance 9.23 DirectX9 version, MikuMikuEffect 0.36, Water_v5_4_32_64.)

Another example rendered image (Miku swimming) is here:

And there are lots of links to sky domes and water stages in my favorites.

In the interest of saving people time, I have provided the Beamman water effect with the files and folders already renamed to English by me, and also the
WaterLightController_v5.pmx translated to English by me . Beamman's license gives permission for people to re-distribute his effects for non-commercial use, so there is no license violation for me to save other people time in this way.
